Victoria Falls

Travel information

Practicalities for your journey

An overview of the essentials. We'll always confirm the specifics for your itinerary.

Visas

Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana each set their own visa policy. A KAZA UniVisa often covers Zambia + Zimbabwe entries (with same-day Chobe day trips). We'll confirm the right combination for your nationality and route once we know your itinerary.

Health

Yellow fever certificates are required in some routings, and antimalarials are recommended for most safari regions. Please consult a travel doctor 4–6 weeks before departure. We'll flag anything itinerary-specific.

Currency

US dollars are widely accepted across the region for tourism services. Local currencies are useful for small purchases. Most lodges accept card; cash is helpful for tips and community purchases.

Climate

The green season (Nov–Mar) brings lush landscapes, dramatic skies and lower rates. The dry season (May–Oct) offers the strongest game viewing and mild temperatures. Victoria Falls is spectacular year-round but changes character between high and low water.

Packing

Muted colours for game viewing, layers for cool mornings, a broad-brimmed hat, closed shoes for walks, and a rain shell for the Falls' spray. Small soft duffels beat hard cases on light aircraft.

Getting there

The primary gateways are Victoria Falls (VFA), Livingstone (LVI), Kasane (BBK) and Maun (MUB), served by regional carriers from Johannesburg, Nairobi and Addis Ababa. We can advise on connections and inter-camp flights.
